AVIAN awarded NAVAIR PMA-262 contract


LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – AVIAN LLC was awarded a $34.3M contract to provide engineering and technical services to the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Persistent Maritime Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program Office (PMA-262).

The AVIAN team will provide PMA-262 with services in support of the design, development, test, production, logistic support, operations, field and sustainment of High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) maritime Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) to meet Naval Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) requirements.

AVIAN’s team is comprised of American Systems Corp. (ASC), AT&T, Global Technology and Management Resources (GTMR), Integrated Program Solutions, Inc. (IPS), Sabre and Tekla.

This contract win is AVIAN’s tenth prime contract and is part of an ever-growing portfolio of support services for NAVAIR, the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and the Office of Naval Research.

AVIAN awarded AIR 5.1 T&E contract


LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – AVIAN LLC was awarded a five-year, $63.8M cost-plus fixed-fee, level of effort contract to provide test and evaluation support services to the Naval Air Warfare Center – Aircraft Division’s (NAWCAD) Integrated Systems Evaluation, Experimentation and Test (ISEET) Department (AIR 5.1).

NAWCAD’s AIR 5.1 competency provides the resources for full life-cycle program T&E support from requirements review to the design, planning, execution, evaluation, & reporting of experiments and tests of aircraft, unmanned air vehicles, weapons, weapons systems & integrated warfare systems.

As the returning provider of Contract Support Services for AIR 5.1, the AVIAN team will continue to provide T&E expertise and risk mitigation activities.

“Our team features responsive ‘reach-back’ capabilities and a proven record of direct T&E support across AIR-5.1,” said Greg Griffitt, AVIAN’s AIR 5.1 program manager.

AVIAN’s team is comprised of subcontractors Aviation Systems Engineering Company, Inc. (ASEC); Jahn Corporation; J. F. Taylor, Inc.; KBRwyle; ManTech Advanced Systems International, Inc.; Precise Systems, Inc.; RCW LLC; Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC); and Tekla Research, Inc.

The contracted support for AIR 5.1 includes test program management; Assistant Program Manager for Test and Evaluation, and Lead Test Engineer support; Test Resource Management and Test Information Management support; Flight Test Engineering and Technology Development support; Platform Coordination; and Test Project Management support.

“Our T&E professionals are directly responsible for oversight, direction, and analysis to ensure safe and effective ground and flight test of aviation-related U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and U.S. Coast Guard acquisition efforts,” Griffitt said.

Moving forward, the AVIAN team seeks to continuously improve its partnership and support of ISEET – expanding participation in the development of test strategies, test methods, and test plans; enhancing test execution and reporting of test results; and innovating with training to sustain the expertise of the AIR-5.1 workforce – all while assisting ISEET as it evolves its T&E processes to meet future requirements.

AVIAN wins logistics IDIQ contract


LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – AVIAN LLC was awarded a position on a five-year, $249.8M multiple award contract to provide logistics and program management support services to the Naval Air Systems Command’s logistics integration department (AIR 6.6).

NAVAIR’s logistics competency provides the resources to develop, plan, and integrate logistics support considerations into weapon system designs; and establishes and maintains integrated logistics support capable of sustaining fleet operations and maintenance throughout the full life-cycle of aviation weapon systems and related equipment integrating new capabilities and transitioning systems into the existing Navy.

This cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, was a small business set-aside awarded to a total of nine companies. AVIAN’s team is comprised of subcontractors ASI, Eagle, SAIC and Zenetex. Award of individual task orders are forthcoming.

AVIAN awarded PMA-209 contract


AVIAN LLC was awarded a five-year, $31M contract to provide acquisition support to the Air Combat Electronics Program Office (PMA-209). PMA-209 champions development, integration and cradle-to-grave support for common avionics solutions in safety, connectivity, mission computing and interoperability. AVIAN’s team is comprised of subcontractors J. F. Taylor, Zenetex and CRL Technologies Inc.   AVIAN is the incumbent for this program support and will continue to provide support for all Air Combat Electronics (ACE) Aviation Capabilities Integration Systems Team (ACIST) systems integrator efforts required to lead, manage, integrate, develop, modify, and support capability definition through integration and support for multiple platform integration projects. The new contract includes four additional positions in support of PMA-209.

Kelly Perry selected as finalist in HR of the year award


At a very young age, AVIAN’s Director of Human Resources, Kelly Perry, knew that her purpose in life was to help others, so she naturally migrated to a career where she could do just that.

“I was lucky enough to be introduced to the human resources profession while in college and it has taken me on a fantastic journey,” Perry said. “As Maya Angelou once said, I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

Recently, Perry’s commitment to helping others led her to becoming HR Leadership Awards of Greater Washington’s finalist for the Chief Human Resources Officer of the Year Award – Small Business.

Budding AVIAN talent recognized as PR Rising Star ‘honoree’


With attributes like leadership, ingenuity and passion, AVIAN LLC’s Liz Mildenstein is leading the field for millennial public relations professionals.

This month, Mildenstein became an honoree of the 2014 Public Relations Rising Star Awards.

Rising Star Awards recognize accomplished PR up-and-comers aged 30 and under who are practicing communications professionals in a corporation, PR firm, nonprofit/association, educational institution, government organization or industry supplier.

Mildenstein serves as part of AVIAN’s Information and Multimedia Services (AIMS) division that provides communications support to Navy and Marine Corps customers at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, Maryland. She is currently supporting the U.S. Navy’s F/A-18 and EA/18G Program Office as their lead communications/multimedia specialist.

“Liz is pro-active, detail-oriented and dedicated to delivering top notch products and services to her customer,” said Julie Lemmon, AIMS lead communications/multimedia specialist for the U.S. Navy’s Air-to-Air Missiles Program Office and Mildenstein’s former teammate. “I can’t think of an individual more deserving of a Rising Star Award.”
