One of AVIAN’s employees, LCDR Commander Jason ‘JD’ Fassett, known to everyone by his Navy callsign ‘Finster,’ is currently deployed in Afghanistan on reserve duty. In a display of support, AVIAN employees gathered together and wrapped Christmas gifts for all the members of JD’s reserve unit. In the past, AVIAN has been a part of Operation Santa Claus and other Christmas gift-giving events that support deployed troops, but this year it was particularly special because the company organized its own ‘Operation Finster’ to support JD.

AVIAN supports the troops in other ways during the holiday season too. The company sent long sleeved t-shirts to a deployed Marine Aviation unit in Afghanistan to help them out during the colder months. Many AVIAN employees are former military, and everyone in the company likes to do their part to remind the servicemen and women overseas that they are remembered and appreciated, especially during the holiday season.

As a mutual sign of respect, JD in turn nominated AVIAN for the prestigious 2013 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. The award recognizes employers who provide exceptional support to their Guard and Reserve employees. AVIAN is truly honored to be nominated for its efforts to support the troops.
