Real life superheroes triumphantly seized the night during the 17th annual Relay for Life of St. Mary’s County, Maryland on June 7 to fight back, remember and celebrate the lives affected by cancer.

Held at Leonardtown High School in Leonardtown, Maryland, hundreds of people took to the track for a twelve hour journey to raise funds, build camaraderie, and parallel the physical effects, emotions and mental state of a cancer patient while undergoing treatment.

For twelve hours, 96 teams and fundraising activities filled the 400 meter track with enthusiasm and hope. Each at their own pace, 1,062 participants rounded the track, lap after lap, throughout the evening as a unified group with one mission – to finish the fight.

Earlier this year, AVIAN LLC lost a special teammate in his fight against cancer. On April 19th, we lost Jeffrey Thomas Bringle. Each day, AVIAN remembers Jeff and his courageous fight and contagious smile. We celebrate the difference he made for his country, his family and his community.

AVIAN has been a corporate sponsor of Relay for Life St. Mary’s County for several years. This year, the company’s enthusiasm was brought to life in the form of team ‘AVIAN Celebrates Life.’

AVIAN’s team of more than 20 walkers were survivors, caregivers, seasoned participants and new supporters of the world’s largest fight against cancer.

Exceeding expectations, the team raised $3,840.44, which was more than the team’s goal of $3,000 for the event.

Relay is an occasion to express hope and a shared goal to end a disease that threatens the lives of so many people. Saving lives from cancer starts with one team, one participant, and one dollar at a time.

This year’s Relay for Life St Mary’s County event raised $220,884.42 that will benefit the American Cancer Society.
